90210 Season 2 Episode 8 (Part 4 of 5) Women’s Intuition

90210 Season 2 Episode 8 (Part 4 of 5) Women\'s Intuition

90210 is moving to a new address : tuesday nights! Yup, Gossip Girl and 90210 combo is no more. Why? Because 90210 is being paired with its very own 90’s retro-show sister: the new Melrose Place!

Naomi finds out that she might not be able to get into CU because of her low test scores. She is very unhappy and decides she needs to get some tutoring. Dixon’s girl does some work and finds out the truth about Dixon. Adrianna is starting to like Teddy more and more and causes for some weirdness during a date. Silver ends up meeting her mom and her mom wants to get together to catch up. Silver isn’t too thrilled by this.

Dixon and Sasha head to Napa for the weekend, but a flat tire on the way home leads to a trunk of porn as well as growing lies. Annie’s attitude makes a complete change when she learns that Jasper, the nephew of the man she hit on prom night, attends West Beverly. Navid continues running the Blaze News, and has Silver and Gia interview Jasper for an article about his uncle. Meanwhile, Adrianna confides in Teddy, leading Adrianna and Navid to spend the night together; Liam gets revenge on Jen; and the truth is revealed to Naomi about prom night.

In the early ’90s, the adolescents identified with “Beverly Hills, 90210“, a TV series that was painting in glowing colors the life of some Californian teenagers which attended the West Beverly Hills High School. Following with avidity every episode, the young women lost their hearts to the charming Brandon and Dylan while the boys had an attraction for Brenda and Kelly. After eighteen years, Jennie Garth, Joe E. Tata, Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling revive their characters. They are back in the teenagers’ rich universe, not as high schools but as graduates who made their way in life.

Hey, Gossip Girl. There’s a new show in town. Well, a new show based on an old show…Did you guys find yourselves comparing the new 90210 to Gossip Girl last night? I did. Let’s talk about history: Here’s where 90210 wins. 90210 has history. Who else was thrilled to see Brenda (Shannen Doherty) and Kelly (Jennie Garth) back together last night?

But on the basis of its two-hour premiere last night, even writing the phrase ”cultural discourse” seems silly. This reworking of producer Aaron Spelling’s heartthrob factory Beverly Hills, 90210 is — well, it’s like the first few episodes of that ancient 1990-2000 series: corny but trying to be hip, crammed with subplots until the producers figure out which ones the audience responds to, and cast with mostly young faces that its network (The CW) prays will become teen idols.

Actually the naming of the show was eronious. The area under the zip code 90210 is a business zone including Rodeo Drive, Camden, parts of Wilshire Blvd., etc. Honestly, I think they named it for the shops on Rodeo, that would be the most recognized area in B.H.
